There are several payment options, including prepayment or paying at the counter. If you wish to prepay when completing your reservation, select the Pay Now or Book Over the Phone option to process your payment. We accept Visa, Mastercard, Apple Pay, and Google Pay for Pay Now bookings. Please note that even with a prepaid booking, you must present a credit/debit card at the time of collection and pay the applicable bond.
All charges will be in Australian Dollars, and we cannot take responsibility for currency fluctuations if payments are made in non-AUD currencies.
A valid Mastercard or Visa card must be presented at collection. Debit cards are acceptable, but the physical card must be in the hirer’s name. If you are unable to present a card in the hirer’s name, please contact us for assistance.

My partner and I rented a car for five day in our stay in the Gold Coast and the price was really good and affordable. The airport shuttle was efficient. There’s a free public phone at the international airport that you can use to call for it, and we waited about 10 minutes. The purple buses are easy to spot. When we returned the car at the end of the hire the shuttle went straight away.The car was a fairly basic model with 48k km on the clock but it did the job, and was clean and in good condition. Good value. I would use them again.

First time hire with Alpha and I must say it was great. Much better value than other hire companies. Was reticent about the off airport location but the shuttle was easy, virtually no waiting and drivers friendly and polite. Check-in and drop off very easy as well. Again, staff were great. I used Alpha 10 years back when they had just started out and loved their service back then, so when it came time to hire another car in Brisbane I sought them out. Super pleased to see their great work has paid off and they are now a massive company but have retained the small company service and vibe. Great experience renting a truck (both times). In both cases - clean interior, runs well. Hydraulic lift, A/C, cruise control were in good working order. Booked and paid online, no hassle pickup and drop off, friendly staff. Also, great price on truck rental, looks like the best in the city. Don't forget to fill that tank when returning the vehicle.
The business is located in the perfect spot in Hendra and there is a service station only metres away, making it super easy to refuel just before returning the car. The staff are quick, friendly and efficient. The car I had was relatively new and in excellent condition (although it did need a more thorough clean, which could be due to my last minute booking). The shuttle bus runs regularly and the driver was extremely helpful and considerate. Overall, I was very happy with every aspect of my first experience with them. It won't be my last!

Car Hire Sydney Frequently Asked Questions:
To hire a car in Australia with Alpha Car Hire, you must be at least 21 years old. Drivers aged 21-24 have limited vehicle options (including Economy Car, Compact Car, Compact SUV, Compact Hybrid SUV, Intermediate Car, and Ute) and are subject to an age surcharge.
Any licence provided must be in English and include a photo. If your driving licence is in a language other than English, it must be accompanied by an approved translation, such as an International Driving Permit. An International Driving Permit is not a stand-alone document and must be carried alongside your valid domestic driving licence.
Basic insurance is typically included in the rental rate, but it may not cover everything, so be sure to review the terms and conditions before booking. To reduce your liability further, consider adding excess insurance, which can lower your out-of-pocket expenses to as little as $500 or even $0, depending on the coverage you choose. If minimizing potential costs is a priority, excess insurance could be a valuable option.
If you return the vehicle more than 2 hours after the drop-off time, you will be charged an additional full day’s fee. For example, if your rental is from 8:00 am to 8:00 am the next day, and you return it at 10:00 am, the extra charge will apply. If you have any questions, please contact our customer service team.
At Alpha Car Hire, adding an extra driver costs just $9.90 per day.
If you are involved in a collision during the rental, you must:
- Record the time, date, and location of the accident.
- Record the full names, addresses, vehicle registrations, car types, and any property damage of all other parties involved.
- Record the name of the other parties’ insurance company.
- Do not admit liability.
- Notify the nearest police station within 24 hours of the accident.
- Report the accident, including any damage, to the Company at the rental location within 48 hours.
- Complete and sign the Damage Report Form.
- Pay for the towing and retrieval costs to the nearest Company depot, up to the Liability Waiver amount as specified in the Alpha Hire Rental Agreement, or otherwise cover the full cost.
Please note: Admitting liability for any claim, loss, or demand will be considered a breach of the Alpha Hire Rental Terms and Conditions.
